A Crafty Christmas

We were on a very strict budget this Christmas, which meant getting presents for our rather large extended family needed some creative solutions. Time to get crafty again, with handmade presents and baking… so I turned to the internet and tumblr’s #craft tag for ideas.

Made a number of homemade sampler packs, thanks to Dish magazine’s shortbread variation recipes, plus my fave brownies, raspberry and white choc slice, and mini choc banoffee tarts.

Dad and Tau both got ginger pear loaves with caramel sauce.

Gave a heap of these out, and they seemed to be an instant fave – cookie recipe jars, plus a hot choc recipe jar.

I really liked these, so did Joe so he got this lol.

The Mum’s got these embroidery hoops, plus vintage tea cup trio sets with chocolate truffles… which I forgot to take a photo of (I was making these at midnight xmas eve still so yeah… excuses lol. Joe finally sent me to bed cos I got a sugar burn making the hazelnut praline for the truffles. Apparently I was a danger to myself haha).

Nina and my nieces got handmade lavender body scrub, bath fizzes and upcycled t-shirt scarves.

Swag bunniesMade a whole heap of “swag bunnies” for the kids, but Dave liked ‘em so much he got one too lol.

embroidery hoopsLani got these… embroidery hoops inspired by Dave’s Till Tomorrow and Take a Picture vids.

And I think that’s about it… had fun trying to remember how to use a sewing machine and proper embroidery stitches, but once I got going, I think they turned out pretty well. Thinking of maybe selling my swag bunnies lol… any takers?
